USE IT OR LOSE IT
There’s a well known saying “If you don’t use it, you lose it”
These words sum up the best reasons in my opinion, to maintain physical fitness. It may sound too simple, but that’s because it is that simple. We all seem to accept that we’re supposed to fall apart as we age. And we all tell ourselves the same story, and gradually we deteriorate to the point of no return. We’ve all seen a loved one, an acquaintance, or this all to common end played out on TV or in a movie theatre.
This project of mine, GPOP Fitness, was created to put a major dent in this accepted concept that we’re all headed for some disastrous end. I know, this does not need to be the outcome of living a long life, and my mission here is to get you to believe the same. When our muscles atrophy, our bones weaken, our ligaments and tendons become stiff and brittle, our minds diminish, our organs fail, and disease becomes our destiny, most of us act surprised and ask why did this happen to me?
There is an answer to this question, and even if you know this answer, most ignore this awareness, and blindly accept this disastrous end I’m referring to. I say we need to stop behaving is such an irresponsible way and start taking care of this amazing physical body we were given. If any of this makes sense to you, we need to talk.

I’ve known Steven for 25 years. We actually met at the gym. We developed a lifelong friendship that continues today. I’ve had a commitment to fitness that borders on obsessive, but I know that my good friend is always watching out for me, and sometimes I even listen. I’ve known Steve for years. As a professional woman working in government health and in my personal passion working as a professional actress, my appearance is a priority to me. Steve has been a resource more times than I can count. My personal knowledge in the wellness field is vast, but I know I can’t possibly master all of it. Steve has been that valuable link to not only filling in the blanks, but his unique way of making the complicated simple to understand is a breath of fresh air.

Steve is my grandfather. I was lucky to have him in my life growing up. He was a big influence in my life for many reasons, but sports and fitness are where we really bonded. I started playing little league baseball and flag football when I was about 7 or 8. My grandpa always volunteered to coach and support my efforts. I was fortunate to accel in the sports I participated in and having my grandpa at my side always provided that security that helped me find my way.
My grandpa showed what it was to do your best and be a team player. He always focused on fitness and preparation. Training was at times very challenging with him, he often did the same workouts that he suggested for me, and as a kid keeping up with him was a real challenge. Eventually I advanced enough to pass him up, but I could tell he was proud of me. As I advanced to high school I focused on football and during my career I was honored with many accolades. My favorite accomplishment was two-time linebacker of the year in Orange County’s Sunset League. I don’t think my grandpa ever missed a game and the foundation he helped me build is still with me today.

HEALTH & FITNESS FOR ANY AGE AND HEALTHY LIFESTYLE!
In our country today disease and illness are out of control. We’ve just experienced the COVID 19 pandemic, and we’ve all come to realize that poor health was the leading predictor of vulnerability. Obesity is everywhere. Our children are less healthy than the generations before. Mental illness and homelessness are increasing at frightening rates. What do all these things have in common? The common thread in all of this is a lack of personal responsibility and action. It’s not that we need more information, or desire, or money, or a better status at birth. We need to make the decision to take better care of our selves and each other, and that’s what I intend to do with this website.
